On 1 December 2022, the Singapore Ministry of Defence, RSIS and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Academy of Military Sciences (AMS) co-organised the 1st RSIS-AMS Dialogue, which was conducted virtually and attended by distinguished scholars from local think tanks and universities, as well as the PLA AMS. The participants exchanged views on global security governance, regional issues, and digital transformation.

Such academic exchanges between think tanks and military academies are one of the key areas of cooperation and exchanges under the enhanced Agreement on Defence Exchanges and Security Cooperation signed between Singapore and China in October 2019. These exchanges underscore the warm and friendly defence relations between both countries that have expanded and grown over the years.
