The Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies held the 20th Asia Pacific Programme for Senior Military Officers (APPSMO 2018) between 5 and 11 August. Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence, was the GOH at the opening ceremony.
Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, Seventh President of Singapore, took over from Mr Eddie Teo Chan Seng as Chairman of the RSIS’ Board of Governors on 1 August.
Lieutenant-General (Ret) Agus Widjojo spoke on “Professionalism and Propensity for Reform in the Indonesian Military” during an RSIS Distinguished Public Lecture. Representing Lembaga Ketahanan Nasional Republik Indonesia, LG Widjojo also signed an MOU with RSIS after the lecture.
RSIS hosted the Track II Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions (NADI) workshop from 25 to 29 June. The workshop touched on terrorism, radicalisation and cyber threats.
During an RSIS Public Lecture by Dr Cung Vu on 18 May, he spoke on the benefits and implications of 4IR.
