Biofuels are known to be a double edged sword. On the one hand, they are heralded as an answer to growing energy needs while emitting less carbon emissions. Yet, at the same time, the production of biofuels has, for the most part, been a source of even more carbon emissions. The use of scarce agricultural land to grow these biofuels has also resulted in issues of food insecurity. This edition examines the progess thus far in utilizing biofuels as a sustainable energy source.
