On 27 July 2021, staff and students gathered online to celebrate RSIS Day. Held annually, the event commemorates the establishment of IDSS on 30 July 1996, before it was inaugurated as RSIS subsequently.
Ambassador Ong Keng Yong, Executive Deputy Chairman of RSIS, kicked off the programme by acknowledging RSIS staff for their achievements in the past year. He also congratulated those who had received promotions. Professor Ralf Emmers, Dean of RSIS, thanked everyone for their hard work and contributions amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed the importance of taking care of physical and mental health.
This year’s celebrations also included lively games and a lucky draw. The first activity was a drawing contest, where the contestants were asked to draw images on their screen and everyone had to guess the drawings. The second activity was a race where everyone had to “Spot the Difference” between a set of original photos against their edited versions.
