More than 200 staff and students gathered on 25 July 2019 to celebrate RSIS’ 23^rd anniversary, at the Hive at Nanyang Technological University. The annual RSIS Day commemorates its establishment on 30 July 1996 as the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (as it was then known). As part of the celebrations, RSIS staff were presented the long service award by Amb Ong Keng Yong, Executive Deputy Chairman of RSIS.

The award recipients are as follows:

Long Service Award (20 years)

1. Leonard Christopher Sebastian (Associate Professor, Indonesia Programme)
2. Chong Yee Ming (Librarian)
3. Tng Eng Cheong (Senior IT Specialist, IT)
4. Ng Gim Choon (Senior Executive, Administration)
5. Zulkafri Bin Abdul Hai (Admin Officer, Administration)

Long Service Award (15 years)

1. Joseph Soedradjad Djiwandono (Professor, RSIS)
2. Mohamed Nawab Bin Mohamed Osman (Assistant Professor, Malaysia Programme)
