The past quarter was a busy month for the RSIS Alumni Association (RAA). In the course of the work of RSIS, our faculty travel widely and try to visit countries where there are RSIS alumni. This quarter, Dean Ralf Emmers hosted RSIS alumni in Beijing to a dinner and reinforced our connections with our students there. In September, RAA President Mr Eddie Lim (Senior Fellow and Head, RSIS Military Studies Programme), met an alumnus, Mr Siwakorn Tarawatcharasrt, during a visit to Bangkok and had a good discussion, in which the latter reminisced upon his year at RSIS and talked about how he missed the rigorous academic learning of his master’s course. In the same month, the Graduate Programme Office (GPO) organised a RSIS Student Career Panel, involving two of our alumni in the United States, who were joined by one of their friends in the industry, to talk about the opportunities and challenges in the fintech industry. In December 2019, the GPO organised another panel, this time involving our alumni from the financial service sectors.
