Mr Benny Oon is Chief Operating Officer at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he oversees the daily operations of the institution, including human resource, finance, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, IT, and events management.
Prior to his current role, Mr Oon served as the Head of Outreach and Executive Coordinator of Risk and Innovation Management at RSIS. He was responsible for international engagements including collaboration with foreign research think thanks and academic institutions. Part of this portfolio includes staging significant international events to raise RSIS’ global profile, as well as maintaining ties with key constituencies associated with RSIS. He has also served as International Observer for national elections. Besides having held various portfolios in government as a Senior Director, Mr Oon served as Singapore’s chief negotiator for a UN international drug document during 2015-2016. He spent a stint in the private sector with Ernst and Young Associates as a Director (2000-2002).
He has a Master of Communications Management from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Upp.Hons) from the National University of Singapore. In 2013, he attended the Advanced Leadership Programme at Cambridge University, UK. Mr Oon was conferred the National Day Public Administration Award (Bronze).
