- The Next Phase in Interfaith Dialogue
Interfaith relations have been under the spotlight in recent weeks following the news last month that the Internal Security Department had detained a 16-year-old Protestant Christian for planning attacks on two mosques in Singapore. In the wake of the arrests, religious leaders, including from the Christian and Muslim communities, were united in condemning the planned attacks and disavowing them from religious teachings. Referring to such public statements, Associate Professor Paul Hedges from the RSIS wrote in a recent paper: “Symbolic displays of unity can be key, more so than statements or speeches from one side. Plans for joint action by religious communities to tackle online radicalisation and extremism are also to be welcomed.”
