- Will Anwar Ibrahim Finally Get His Break?
Against the backdrop of mounting instability and political intrigue in Malaysia, Dr Joseph Liow, Dean of NTU’s CoHASS and Research Adviser at the RSIS discussed what to make of the country’s charismatic opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim gambit in a commentary. There are at least three obstacles in his quest for the prime ministership of Malaysia, he said. Among them include the need for Anwar to corral a majority – including seats from political party Umno – to make up the 112 seats he would require for a parliamentary majority.
… Dr Joseph Liow Chinyong is Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Tan Kah Kee Chair in Comparative and International Politics, and Senior Adviser at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University.
