Who is Poised to Benefit Most from Saudi Aramco Oil Facilities Attack
On 14 Sep, a massive drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais claimed by Yemeni Houthi rebels sliced the kingdom’s crude production in half and sent oil prices nearly 15 percent higher last Monday. While investigations into the Aramco strike are going on, one thing is clear: the US-made Patriot surface-to-air missile systems failed to intercept the drones. “What does the American defence umbrella mean under this situation?” asked James Dorsey, an award-winning journalist and senior fellow at the RSIS.
