- To Monitor, Track and Counter IS Operations: SL Needs Cyber Warrior Teams
Professor of Security Studies at NTU in Singapore, Prof Rohan Gunaratna has stated that developing a legislation which criminalises the Islamic State (IS) in Sri Lanka is vital to fight terrorism in the country. Prof Gunaratna explained that without proscribing entities that spread incitement and engage in violence, the current wave of extremism and terrorism cannot be contained, isolated and eliminated. “To monitor, track and counter IS operations in Sri Lanka and worldwide, the government should train cyber warrior teams within all the Armed Forces, the Police and the intelligence community. Without dominating the cyber space, Sri Lanka cannot win the fight against IS” Gunaratna added.
