Second Trump-Kim Summit Must Yield Mutual Concessions, Say Experts
Nuclear talks have stalled as the US insists on maintaining sanctions and pressure, while Mr Kim, as he said in his New Year’s Day speech, would like to see corresponding US action that can include economic concessions and a complete stop to the US’ joint drills with security ally South Korea. Unlike the historic first Trump-Kim meeting in Singapore that was high on optics, the second one must yield something more tangible such as mutual concessions, experts said. “The key issue is about determining which issues are negotiable and can be adjusted, and which issues are non-negotiable,” Dr Graham Ong-Webb of RSIS.
