Commissioner General Tito Karnavian, head of Indonesia’s Terrorism Countermeasures Agency and the candidate for the post of Indonesian Police chief, affirmed that President Joko Widodo had urged the police to continue implementing institutional reforms. Karnavian said if he is selected as police chief, he will encourage professionalism in his department. Karnavian, who has a doctorate degree from the RSIS at NTU in Singapore, earlier served as head of the Papuan Regional Police and the Jakarta Regional Police.
