Philippines: US DNA Tests Confirm Death of IS-linked Leader

Abu Dar, an Islamic State-linked leader, was among a number of militants killed in the southern town of Tubaran, according to CNN Philippines. Dr. Rohan Gunaratna, head of the Singapore-based International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research, said, “We thank our United States counterparts and the citizens of Lanao Del Sur for helping us neutralise the last remaining leader of the Maute-ISIS Group in the person of Abu Dar. The strategy of the Philippines is to contain, isolate and eliminate the four IS-centric groups that threaten the Philippines.”
