New Science, Tech Agency Under MHA to Boost National Security

A new science and technology agency will be formed under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as part of efforts to build up national security capabilities. RSIS research fellow Graham Ong-Webb said that MHA’s intention to set up such an agency is in line with global trends among developed countries. He said, “I would argue that the existence of such an agency would add value to Singapore’s national security and safety infrastructure managed by Singapore’s law enforcement agencies, in the same way the Defence Science and Technology Agency sharpens our national defence infrastructure managed by the Ministry of Defence.”
