To build up national security capabilities, a new science and technology agency will be formed under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The agency, planned to be set up this year, will be responsible for research and procurement in areas such as border security and protection of critical infrastructure. Dr Rohan Gunaratna, professor of security studies at RSIS, said that as terrorists are adapt at exploiting science and technology, governments have no option but to do likewise to prevent and mitigate the threat.
