Marty Joins UN Board on Diplomacy
Jakarta Post
The United Nations has named former Indonesian foreign minister Marty Natalegawa a member of a newly established unit that will advise Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on relevant thorny issues to be raised at the upcoming UN General Assembly and beyond.
Marty, who served as the country’s top diplomat in the previous administration, was named a member of the high-level advisory board on mediation.
Dewi Fortuna Anwar, a researcher at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, said the government would be able to leverage support from figures such as Marty, but insisted that a regional response would be more effective.
