Mahathir 2.0 and China: Hedging in a Fluid World
In a commentary, Adjunct Senior Fellow Johan Saravanamuttu from the Malaysia Programme at NTU’s RSIS examines the relationship between Malaysia and China, particularly under the current premier Mahathir Mohamad. Against the backdrop of a hybrid environment and a more fluid world order, he said Malaysia is well-poised to craft policies which capitalise on a rising China while hedging against this through maintaining strong ties with states such as Japan, South Korea and Australia as well as good relations with other major Asia-Pacific states.
