Lessons from Hong Kong? Look Beyond Street Violence
The important and relevant issues to draw from the situation in Hong Kong lie in whether strategic measures were taken since Hong Kong’a handover to China more than 20 years ago, wrote RSIS senior fellow Han Fook Kwang in a commentary. Hong Kong’s tribulations should serve as a wake-up call that success can lead quickly to failure when a people and their leaders fail to recognise and respond effectively to changed circumstances, he added.
