Senior fellow at RSIS, NTU, Han Fook Kwang wrote in a commentary that as Singapore becomes more developed and the people more educated, the expertise level in the country will rise, and more sophisticated methods will be used to solve problems. Leaders will have to acquire more technical knowledge to keep up with the work of their organisations and stay on top of the issues. But even more important than domain expertise is the role leaders play in character building and in shaping the values of the organisation.
