ISIS adds lure of children to regional propaganda campaign
The Straits Times
Remy Mahzam, an associate research fellow at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at the RSIS at NTU, wrote that the inclusion of children in the media outreach of ISIS makes a troubling shift in its propaganda strategy. The imagery of children in ISIS media outreach for the Nusantara region encompassing Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines reflects a deeper agenda to immunise the idea of indiscriminate killing. He stressed this is worrying as it marks a progressive milestone for ISIS’ ultimate realisation of a relentless and unforgiving world that would rob children of their own innocence.
