Nazia Hussain, a research analyst at RSIS, said that the BIMSTEC, officially known as the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, is becoming the theatre of convergence and competition for China’s Belt and Road Initiative, India’s Act East policy, and Japan and India’s Asia-Africa Growth Corridor.
