Behind Russian President Putin’s First Visit to Singapore
In an online commentary, Chris Cheang, a senior fellow at NTU’s RSIS, said that it is unlikely that Russia will be able or even willing to invest the necessary resources to make itself felt in the region. He said that Russia will act practically and that its relationships with China, Japan, South Korea and North Korea are of a higher economic, political and strategic order than its relationship with ASEAN.
