- S. Rajaratnam School to Research Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief
Professional graduate school S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) launched a new programme on Tuesday that will research how humanitarian efforts can be improved.
Called the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Programme, it will research four key areas: Future disaster relief landscape in Asia; vulnerable populations, humanitarian effectiveness, and humanitarian technology.
Half of last year’s natural disasters happened in the Asia Pacific andabout 25 per cent of the world’s conflicts were in this region, said the RSIS, adding that the new HADR programme is “very timely and relevant”.
The new programme will come under RSIS’ Centre for Non-Traditional Security Studies, which now has about 10 researchers.
