Why Pakatan Harapan Fell
In a commentary, Ariel Tan, who is NTU’s RSIS Deputy Head of Policy Studies discusses the problems that led to PH’s collapse. Its first problem was fulfilling its broadest purpose on Day One after the general election in 2018 – the key that united PH’s voters, allies and parties. Second, the threat of Bersatu president Muhyiddin and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali having little to gain with Anwar as PM. And third, failing to persuade all that it was on the trajectory to win and entrench itself in the next GE.
