The US has hardened its stance toward China’s disputed claims to offshore resources in most of the South China Sea, calling them “completely unlawful”. Last month the US deployed three of its 11 nuclear aircraft carriers to the Pacific in a move that it described as ‘to promote security, stability and prosperity throughout the Indo-Pacific region”. Senior analyst Zi Yang from RSIS spoke to ABC News Radio’s Tracey Holmes to discuss the issue.
