Two Years After Historic Summit, What Remains of Trump-Kim Bromance?
The Trump-Kim historic 2018 meeting raised hopes of lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula but the initial thaw did not yield further breakthroughs. On Thursday, North Korea took the US to task for commenting on inter-Korean affairs, and issued a veiled threat by saying it is in Washington’s interests to remain quiet if it wants November’s presidential election to go smoothly. Associate Research Fellow Shawn Ho from RSIS said it is uncertain if there is a chance for the US and North Korea to improve their relationship from now till the end of the year.
