- The Sands in the South China Sea Dispute May be Shifting
Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe revealed more of China’s thinking on the South China Sea dispute at the Shangri-La Dialogue last weekend, says Koh Swee Lean Collin, a research fellow at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, a constituent unit of RSIS, in a commentary. Tensions will continue to roil the disputed waters, but as Southeast Asian countries too hope to focus on economic growth and preserving a regional environment that allows for this, parties concerned will likely refrain from escalation.
