- Strategic Conference Programme at IMDEX Asia 2015 Brings Maritime Security Cooperation to the Forefront
SINGAPORE, May 15, 2015 – (ACN Newswire) – The International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC), will return as a key feature of the International Maritime Defence Exhibition 2015 (IMDEX Asia 2015). The biennial invitation-only conference will see Chiefs of Navy, Directors-General of Coast Guard, government officials, key industry players and academia from around the world, gathering to exchange ideas and discuss challenges facing maritime security.
IMSC is organised by Experia Events and co-hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS). To be held on 20 May 2015 at Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC), it is themed “Safe and Secure Seas – Strengthening Maritime Cooperation”. Over 450 delegates are expected to come together to address the significance of a cooperative security approach to create critical capabilities to meet a widening array of transnational threats.
… “As a leading think tank and research centre, our activities are geared towards assisting policymakers to develop comprehensive approaches to strategic thinking on issues related to security and stability in the Asia Pacific and their implications for Singapore. As Singapore is a major maritime hub, the safety and security of sea lines of communication are critical areas of research and public outreach for RSIS. We are therefore honoured to lend our support to IMSC 2015,” said Ambassador Ong Keng Yong, Executive Deputy Chairman, RSIS.
