On the 30^th anniversary of the Kuching Peace Agreement that ended the 28-year communist insurgency in Sarawak, RSIS Assistant Professor Dr Ong Weichong wrote in a commentary about the lessons learnt from the two parallel communist insurgencies Malaysia was faced with during the Cold War. A trust-based negotiation process remains key to building an enduring peace, he wrote.
