Is Islam an Increasingly Polarizing Political Cleavage in Indonesia?

Alexander R. Arifianto, a research fellow at RSIS, wrote an discussing how Indonesia’s recent elections showed Islam being used as a tool to create divisions in the largest Muslim-majority country in the world—a political cleavage that could divide the fourth most populous country in the world for a generation or more.
