- DPM Teo Chee Hean Says Reintegration of Rehabilitated Terrorists into Society is a Core Strategy in the Fight against Extremism
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean says fighting terrorism involves not just countering extremist ideology, but also the reintegration of rehabilitated terrorists into society.
Mr Teo, who’s also Home Affairs Minister and the Coordinating Minister for National Security, said social integration is an important component of a holistic effort to neutralise terrorism threats.
In Singapore, this is carried out by the Inter-Agency Aftercare Group, or ACG, which provides services like counselling, financial aid and other forms of support to the families of detainees.
… Mr Teo was speaking at the East Asia Summit Symposium on Religious Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration.
He said Singapore is concerned about the threat posed by the radicalised fighters of extremist groups like ISIS.
