Bumps on the Digital Silk Road
Raffaello Pantucci, a Senior Fellow at the RSIS, discussed Chinese tech giants and the challenges faced by them in this commentary. Chinese tech giants are superb builders but feared for their prowess and government links. But what if the greater risk lies in these firms themselves, he said. For example, concerns about privacy, access to data and espionage have increasingly dogged Chinese technology firms, he said, citing India’s pushback as amongst the sharpest that China had yet encountered as it paved its Digital Silk Road.
