Four of geostrategic analysis and business consultancy Wikistrat’s top experts weigh in on the long-term significance of the IS. Abdul Basit, associate research fellow at RSIS, wrote that 2019 has been a bad year both for ISIS and Al Qaeda. Prior to Baghdadi’s killing, Osama Bin Laden’s son Hamza Bin Laden, who was being groomed as the future of the global jihadist movement, was eliminated in Afghanistan. However, the fight against global jihad remains a work in progress.
