- Traffic Jams to and from Johor
The immigrations and checkpoint authorities have increased border security by stepping up inspections, which may have led to more traffic jam at the Causeway over the long weekend. In the last few months, there have been three intrusions at the Causeway, which is one of the busiest in the world. Professor Rohan Gunaratna from NTU’s RSIS said it is not easy to achieve a security that is tight, for the number of breaches is very limited – for every five million vehicles, there is one breach. But that breach is usually contained. The Singapore government treats every such incident very seriously as the threat of terrorism is a real one. He added that there must be greater collaboration between various law enforcement agencies, which will make the chance of something going wrong extremely small.
