    Premier Zhou Enlai’s pursuit of common ground for peace brought about unity and cooperation among newly independent Asian and African countries. Hoo Tiang Boon, assistant professor with the China Programme at NTU Singapore, considers the Bandung Conference “a coming out event for China”, as the country’s concepts of cooperation and friendship won popular support.
