In an article discussing the transformation of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Collin Koh Swee Lean, a defence expert at RSIS, said the PLA’s more active participation in international security missions had won plaudits from the global community. He said, “The China today under Xi is a radically different one these days: it’s assertive, very confident … and more than eager to flaunt its strengths.”
