RSIS Adj Assoc Prof Friedrich Wu observed that in the race for global technological hegemony, China could catch up with the United States in perhaps slightly over a decade. While the current trade war waged by the Trump administration against China is a campaign to contain China’s challenge to the United States’ “technology hegemony”, it will not succeed in pushing back China’s ambition to emerge as a technological powerhouse.
