In a commentary, RSIS Assistant Professor Jikon Lai and  Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia Visiting Fellow Elina Noor wrote about how a cycle of reciprocal aggression between US and China, the world’s two largest and most influential powers, cannot be the formula for stable or orderly coexistence, and how ASEAN states should go beyond acting as mediators between the major powers and jointly identify possible solutions.
