Singapore’s Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat’s 2020 Budget speech may have been long, but it was clear on one message: the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) is ready for the general election. “While the PAP is unlikely to call the election while the virus rages on, it will also not want to wait too long before memories of how it handled the crisis fade,” said Assoc Prof Alan Chong from RSIS.
