Have a Passion for books?
The New Paper
If a person borrow books from the library using the PAssion Card and the card is lost, he will not be able to borrow books using his identity card (IC) if he chooses to deactivate the card. This is because both the PAssion Card and the IC has the user’s IC number encoded in their barcodes. RSIS Assoc Prof Alan Chong said that organisations can reduce reliance on the IC number by implementing passwords as a secondary form of identification. He said the IC number should be treated as the equivalent of a username, which is the first key of access, while the second key should be a unique password other than the IC number.
