Europe has a Role Amid US-China Blame Game Over COVID-19
In an opinion piece, Dr Yeo Lay Hwee, who is Director of the European Union Centre at NTU discusses Europe’s role amid the US-China blame game over COVID-19. While the Europeans have tried not to be drawn into the US-China rivalry, there are signs that they are feeling the need to push back against China in the battle of narratives, Dr Yeo said. The EU has tried not to choose between the US and China, and has talked about developing strategic autonomy. Europeans are also more wary about over-reliance on China in the economic sphere and trade and investment relations with China are set for a review.
