Why did George Floyd Protests Gain Traction Worldwide – Including Asia?
Sifting through the embers of recent protests around the world, Dr Shashi Jayakumar, RSIS’ Senior Fellow and Head of the Centre of Excellence for National Security and Executive Coordinator of Future Issues and Technology notes in a commentary that a growing cancel culture and a loss of hope among youths are challenges governments must guard against. The long-term challenge for governments here and elsewhere will be to deal with this in an empathetic way. This will help nurture the next generation of changemakers and activists who want to leave a positive mark on society, he wrote.
