Choosing Sides? 5G and Techno-Nationalism

In a joint-commentary, RSIS’s Executive Coordinator Shashi Jayakumar and Research Fellow Manoj Harjani discussed the global roll-out of 5G networks, and how it has become a proxy battleground for tensions between China and the United States. While Singapore and other South-east Asian countries will favour a pragmatic approach in navigating between the tech ‘Great Game’ between the US and China, the pressure to choose sides is likely to intensify, they said.
