- Capella Hotel a Scenic Venue, but Will Be Tougher to Secure: Experts
While the choice of the Capella Singapore hotel on Sentosa as the meeting place for the American and North Korean leaders will provide a scenic setting for the summit, experts say protecting it will require more security resources than if the event was held in the city. For one thing, security agencies will have to plan for potential maritime incursions, said Mr Muhammad Faizal Abdul Rahman of the RSIS Centre of Excellence for National Security. Assoc Prof Alan Chong at RSIS noted that the choice of Sentosa as a venue would also provide a spectacular backdrop for the upcoming Trump-Kim summit. “This is also an important factor that comes to play when setting a venue for such a historic summit. Sentosa, with its blue waters and sky, as well as lush greenery, offers a powerful symbol of peace and tranquillity,” he said. “Hopefully, it does not rain on the day though,” Prof Chong added.
