About the Speaker:
Ilan Mizrahi was Head of the National Security Council of the State of Israel from June 2006 to January 2008. He has had a long and distinguished career in the Israeli intelligence service. From 1972 to 2003 he served in the Mossad, starting in operational positions and completing his tenure there as its deputy head. In the Mossad he served in several key positions, such as the Head of the Anti-Terror Division, Head of the Mossad UMINT (recruiting and operating agents) division, Head of the Intelligence Division (overseeing analysis of information as well as evaluations of threats/risks/opportunities, and assisting the operational divisions in target selection). As Mossad deputy head (2000-2003), Mizrahi was responsible for day-to-day operations as well as overseeing long term planning. Upon retirement, from 2003-4 Mizrahi served as CEO of “YANIV”, a non-governmental organization taking care of youth at risk at anational level. He moved on to head a defence/security company from 2005-6. He has degrees in Political Science, as well as in Islam and the History of the Middle East from Tel-Aviv University and the University of Haifa. He is currently Executive Vice President of Bronfman International Ltd, Bronfman Group, Israel.
