David Fowler is an Associate Research Fellow within the Military Studies Programme at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University. David has master’s degrees in Strategic Studies (MSc, University of Aberdeen) and War Studies (MA, King’s College London), and is currently a part-time PhD Candidate with King’s College London. His proposed PhD thesis (from Clausewitz to Chaos: developing an ontology of complexity in the philosophy of war) looks at the intersectionality of contemporary complexity theory and strategic thought. Prior to joining RSIS, David was a senior officer in the UK’s Royal Air Force. After a decade flying combat aircraft on numerous operational tours, David was eventually promoted to ‘fly’ a desk in the UK’s Ministry of Defence, working across government in a breadth of intelligence, strategy and policy roles.
