While countries are busy grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is another infectious disease requiring global attention. The surge of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) across the globe is another security threat that should be prevented from becoming a future pandemic. Otherwise, this threat can turn into another global health issue that can put a dent in global security and economy. For this purpose, this project examines the emergence of DR-TB cases and explains its dangers to global security. It explains how DR-TB complicates the elimination of tuberculosis across the globe, which is currently one of the world's leading infectious disease killers. It also illustrates how DR-TB cases can cause economic instability. Because of these issues, the study recommends several policy measures that should be put in place to combat DR-TB and prevent it from becoming a future pandemic.
