Biography

Abdul Basit is a Senior Associate Fellow at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) of the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Basit specializes in issues of politics, violence, religious extremism, terrorism and security in South Asia. He has co-authored a book entitled Dynamics of Taliban Insurgency in FATA, published from Pakistan by Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS). In addition, he has written extensively in reputed academic journals such as the Perspectives on Terrorism and mainstream Pakistani English dailies including The News International and Express Tribune. His commentaries have also been published from The National Interest (US), RSIS (Singapore) and East Asia Forum (Australia). Basit regularly appears as terrorism and security experts on a number of TV news channels including BBC, Channel News Asia, Pakistan Television News (PTV) etc. He can be reached at [email protected]
