Alif Satria is a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR). Prior to joining ICPVTR in 2023, he completed an MA in Security Studies at Georgetown University and worked for five years as a researcher at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta. His research focuses on terrorism and political violence in Indonesia, with particular interests in the organizational dynamics of terrorist groups, terrorists’ radicalization pathways and operational career trajectories, and the evolution of Indonesia’s counterterrorism and countering violent extremism (CVE) framework. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including Perspectives on Terrorism and Global Responsibility to Protect, as well as in edited volumes and a range of popular media outlets.
